Carol Wood

Carol is a retired Assistant Headteacher of Mill Ford Special School and Chair of The Inspire Multi Academy Trust. She has a wealth of experience in school leadership and great teaching and learning. Carol has been the Chair of Governors at Ernesettle Community School for the last ten years and was named the city’s ‘Chair of the Year in 2013’. Carol was appointed on the 1st January 2016 and can be contacted via the school address or the Contact Us page.

Paul Chapman

Paul, owner and Director of Whitesails Associates, is an experienced Management Accountant and is an Associate Member of CIMA. Paul is also a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management and has a been a governor for the last ten years. Paul was appointed on the 1st January 2016.

Aaron Meredith

Aaron, Executive Headteacher of Ernesettle Community School and CEO of The Inspire Multi Academy Trust (South West), was appointed when Ernesettle Community School was deemed to be requiring special measures in May 2010. Within 18 months, the school was graded as ‘Good with Outstanding features’ by Ofsted. In April 2013, Aaron was seconded to part time for two years to open Devon’s first primary free school, Marine Academy Primary; the academy became the south west’s first ‘Outstanding’ free school in June 2015. In February 2018, Aaron was designated as a National Leader in Education (NLE). Aaron was appointed as a Trustee on the 1st January 2016.

Nicola Keeler

Nicola is a Director of Education for the Ted Wragg Trust, where she leads the development and implementation of the Special Educational Needs Strategy across the trust’s schools. Since qualifying as a teacher in 2009, she has dedicated her career to improving education in some of Plymouth’s most disadvantaged communities, working across several primary schools. With over a decade of experience as a SENCo, Nicola was appointed Co-Headteacher at Marine Academy Primary School, where she has been instrumental in shaping a culture of inclusion and support for all learners. Nicola’s leadership is driven by a belief that every child should feel a sense of success and belonging. Her work focuses on breaking down barriers to education, particularly for students with additional needs, and ensuring they are empowered to reach their full potential. In addition to her school-based work, she plays a pivotal role in mentoring and developing future teachers and SENCos, ensuring that inclusive education remains a central focus across the wider education system. Nicola was appointed to the board in February 2025.

Sophia Pettit

Sophia, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives specialising in Wills and Trusts. Sophia’s knowledge in this area of law and her experience in administering and managing Trusts will aid the board in their role. Sophia is also a parent at Ernesettle Community School, wishing to provide a good role model for her daughters, take an active interest in their school and help keep Ernesettle Community School the great success that it is. Sophia was appointed on the 26th January 2018.

Sandi Wood

Sandi, a parent governor, represents and is a valued member of the local community. Sandi brings media and ICT expertise to the trust and has been heavily involved in community and in-school events, she has been a governor at Ernesettle Community School since 2015. Sandi was appointed on the 1st January 2016.

Laura Stacey

Laura was a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Professional for 22 years prior to retirement from her role with Plymouth City Council in December. She specialised in advising Children’s Services and Education throughout her 15 years with the Council as well as Display Screen Equipment and HSW Training. Until she retired, Laura was a Chartered Member of IOSH, the leading professional Health and Safety body. Laura has been a local Plymouth resident for most of her life and is committed to using her skills and experience to support the Inspire MAT and the schools involved. She is also a grandparent to an Ernesettle Community School pupil. Laura was appointed on the 15th July 2020.

Shaun Badmin

Shaun works for Plymouth City Council as the Operational Manager for the Health Safety and Wellbeing team. He has been a health and safety professional for over 30 years and specialises in advising Adult and Children’s Social Services, together with Community Safety and Commissioning. Shaun is a Certified Member of IOSH and his work with Ergonomics and Display Screen Equipment is leading to Technician Membership of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors. Shaun was born in Plymouth and apart from 7 years in Northamptonshire has lived here all his life. Shaun is dedicated to bringing the highest standards of health and safety and facilities and building to TIMAT through practical solutions. Shaun was a parent governor in a Primary School in Northampton for 4 years and was appointed to the board in December 2024.

Angela Treseder

Angela is the Clerk to governors for the Inspire Multi Academy Trust and is the Administrator at Tor Bridge Primary School. Angela joined the Trust in September 2019 and although new to working in Education, she has over 25 years experience in Administration. Angela is enjoying the new opportunities experienced so far and is looking forward to providing commitment to the Trust’s continued development and growth.
